The approval process, New Family Social membership and how we can support you
WelcomeIt's great that you're here.Whatever brought you to find out a little more about LGBTQ+ adoption and fostering, New Family Social is a great place to start. Since 2007 we've led efforts to make adoption and fostering in the UK more accessible for LGBTQ+ people. Before legal changes, it was difficult and challenging to be taken seriously by social workers. LGBTQ+ couples couldn't legally adopt directly and a small number of LGBTQ+ singles fought through the paperwork. In 2022, 1 in 6 adoptions in England were to same-sex couples. In Wales it stood at 1 in 4. We work with agencies across the UK to drive this change and have some 5,500 LGBTQ+ members. You could be part of next year's statistics. |
If you're LGBTQ+, at least 21 years old and live in Britain, you can adopt. This means you can become the new, permanent parent for a child or children who can’t live with their birth parents. | Join to gain access to national events, peer support, forums and summer camp. If you register with one of our adoption or fostering member agencies then it's free. | If you're LGBTQ+, at least 18 years old and live in Britain, you can foster. Children, from babies to teenagers need stable loving families who care. |
If you've been approved to adopt then through this service you can access children's profiles from our member agencies. |
